Knights Celebrate 4th of July with Flagpole Dedication

The Knights of Columbus Council 10925 celebrated the 4th of July 2008 by sponsoring a barbeque and fireworks viewing at St. Patricks and dedicating a new flagpole erected behind the Ministry Center. The flagpole is a long-held dream of the Council and is dedicated in honor of the deceased Knights of Knights of Columbus Council 10925. It is jointly sponsored by Council 10925, the Chelbana Assembly 2306, and the St. Patrick Senior Adult Ministry.

Prior to the dedication ceremony the Knights held a barbeque that was attended by over 100 parish members. To begin the festivities Father Enrique LaPuebla, the Council chaplain, delivered a benediction to bless the site (see picture above).

Grand Knight Tim Mahar and Deputy Grand Knight Joe Syms were accorded the honor of raising the flag for the first time ( picture below left).

Following the raising of the flag everyone settled in to view the spectacular fireworks display put on by the city of Moreno Valley.
Special thanks to Sir Knight John Cundiff for planning and organizing the event, to all the knights who assisted in the set-up, serving, and clean-up and, most especially, to Sir Knight Bill Cockayne who was largely responsible for the fund-raising, procurement and physical set-up of the flagploe.
Thanks also to Deacon Richard Heames for granting approval of the project and location of the flagpole to honor our deceased knights and our country.

Knights Hold Spring Clean-Up at St. Patricks

The Knights of Colombus Council 10925 celebrated the arrival of Spring with the annual clean-up on May 3, 2008. From 7:00 a.m. till noon, the Knights, aided by parish members, cleared the area along the driveway and on the hill behind St. Patrick House to reduce the fire hazard posed by the weeds and dry brush that accumulate each year. Special thanks go to Brother Knight Sam Gutierrez who organized the event and to parish members Evan and Angel Perez, the Pantoja Family, Scott Kolano, Chris Fopiano, and Ernesto Rendou who also participated in this successful effort.

Shown above are pictures of the area before and after the clean-up.

Pancake Breakfast Proves a Tasty Proposition

On Sunday, April 13, 2008, St. Patrick Knights of Columbus Council 10925 held a pancake breakfast at St. Patrick Catholic Church. According to co-chairmen Sir Knights Bill Cockayne and Charles Howard over 220 meals were served to satisfied parishioners. Sir Knight Jesse Betancourt once again proved himself the best cook in three counties by serving up mounds of delicious pancakes, fluffy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon and sausage. Over twenty-five knights turned out to assist in the set-up, cooking, serving, and clean-up. The profit generated by the event will be deposited in the council general fund and used to support various charitable activities throughout the parish. Thanks to all those knights who generously donated their time to make this event a huge success.
